Itinerary
Friday:
Bike Farm Table Weekends are based in "Paradise City" — otherwise known as Northampton, Massachusetts. Northampton, one of America's perfect college towns, regularly gets accolades for its art scene, restaurants and local agriculture. It also was recently named the best bicycling destination on the east coast. All of this makes Northampton the ideal base for this trip. After meeting in Northampton we will hop on our bicycles for a short ride before enjoying a bountiful welcome picnic at our first Pioneer Valley farm destination. After departing the farm for more scenic riding, we'll arrive back at The Hotel Northampton, a grand and historic hotel right in the heart of downtown. Relax a bit and get cleaned up before we walk to a local restaurant to enjoy a wine and beer social hour and a delicious dinner.
Saturday:
Cruise car-free paths and slow country roads. Harvest the vegetables that will become your dinner that night. Meet the farmers at vegetable and meat farms to learn each farm's unique story. Stroll through the farmers' market on the town green of Amherst, home of Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts. Tonight Chef Daniel and the crew at Bistro Les Gras will prepare a three-course meal to showcase the ingredients you picked and the abundance of the Pioneer Valley.
Sunday:
This last day has options. Spin on a bike path to a swimming hole. If you'd like a challenge, ride up nearby Mount Tom and enjoy spectacular views of the valley below. Or sleep in and enjoy a lazy morning strolling through town. Whatever you decide, you can't go wrong. We'll enjoy a last meal filled with local ingredients before saying farewell.
