Bike Farm Table Weekends Overview Itinerary Farms Details/Dates FAQs Book a Trip
FAQs

Q) Will the chef actually be preparing the food that we pick?
A) Yes! Chef Daniel Martinez at Northampton's renowned Bistro Les Gras is excited about the Iron Chef aspect of making a meal with the vegetables that we'll have plucked from local farms only a few hours earlier. While the meat will have been ordered in advance, we will also be visiting the farm where the meat is sourced.
Q) I'm in reasonable shape and I like to ride a bike, but I'm not one of these people wearing all spandex. Will I fit in on this trip?
A) One of the goals of this trip is to provide a good weekend for people who have never been on a bicycle vacation before. Many organized bicycle tours seem to have forgotten that you don't need to ride a hundred miles and wear high-tech clothing to take part in the simple joy of riding a bike. On these trips we keep the milage low and hills minimal so that you can slow down and become immersed in the area.
Q) Will I enjoy this trip if I get nervous riding in heavy traffic?
A) This trip was designed for you. Northampton is the hub of a growing bike path network and we will ride on bike paths for a good part of the route. When we are on roads, Mount Major Adventures strives to design routes with the least amount of traffic possible. While there occasionally can be small sections on busier roads to connect a favorable route, we work to minimize this as much as possible.
Q) How many people will take part in each weekend?
A) In order to provide the best experience for everyone (participants, farmers, restaurants, etc.) we are limiting each Bike Farm Table Weekend to 14 participants. We believe that a small group allows for an in-depth experience that you don’t get when you are part of a herd.
Q) Can you accommodate different dietary restrictions?
A) While we do our best to be inclusive of all diets, because of the nature of the Saturday evening farm-to-table dinner we have less flexibility in this regard than usual. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions when booking to discuss your individual needs.
Q) Are custom trips available?
A) Absolutely. Custom trips enable you to choose your own dates, keep the group private, increase or shorten the length of the trip, and add the highlights that especially appeal to you. Contact us and we'll be happy to discuss this option.
Q) Where do these trips take place?
A) All trips begin in Northampton, in the heart of the Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts. Northampton is easily accessible by interstate highway, only a three-hour trip from New York and under two hours from Boston. Click here for directions. Arrangements can also be made to arrive from the Springfield, Massachusetts Amtrak station and Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. We can help you figure out your best travel options.
Q) Where can I find your policies on reservations, cancellations, etc.?
A) Please see our reservation and general policies.
